Summary/Objective

This position is responsible for import purchasing of various product lines into multiple AmerCareRoyal distribution centers located throughout the United States. The buyer will serve as a point of contact for vendors on topics relating to various components of the purchase order process, pricing, assuring continuity of supply & product specifications. In addition, this position will oversee and ensure adequate inventory levels with requirements to meet on time delivery and preventing stock outs.

  • Analyze historical sales, current trends, upcoming new business, and exceptions to forecast demand at item level
  • Setup and maintain optimal inventory levels, while monitoring excess and obsolete inventory
  • Review and approve purchase orders to meet all customer demands
  • Set up and maintain vendor and item data in purchasing and ERP systems
  • Maintain updated pricing and product specifications for import items
  • Manage a diversified vendor base consisting of products across multiple categories, fostering continuous improvement and feedback
  • Initiate and implement corrective action plan(s) for identified supplier delivery and/or quality performance issues
  • Work with internal teams (Customer Service/Operations/Sales) to ensure optimal service levels to our customers
  • Manage out of stock situations, including identification of substitute product

Supervisory Responsibility: This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

 

Work Environment: This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines. 

 

Physical Demands: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. 

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk, hear, see and utilize a keyboard. This is largely a sedentary role; however, some filing is required. This would require the ability to lift files, open filing cabinets and bend or stand on a stool as necessary. This position requires the ability to occasionally lift office products and supplies up to 20 pounds.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work: This is a full-time position.  Core work hours are 8:30am 5:30pm with some evening and weekend work when necessary.

Travel: Minimal travel is expected for this position. 

Required Education and Experience

  • 4-year degree in supply chain management or business-related field or equivalent experience
  • 2-5 years of purchasing experience
  • 2-5 years of project coordination experience
  • Proficient computer skills and knowledge of Microsoft Office programs

Preferred Experience

  • Purchasing experience for a major distributor
  • Experience with MS Dynamics AX (MBS Dev version), VAI/AS400, CRM software, and/or Blue Ridge Clarity
